Did you know that August 2nd is the 2017 Earth’s Overshoot Day. That is the day this year the population uses more Earth’s resources than nature can regenerate.
Our ecological demand is now equivalent to 1.7 Earths. A good question – “When do we RUN Out?” December 2014, as published in a UN report, the population ONLY has 60 Harvests left !
OVERSHOOT Definition: The unintentional action of going past a point, either by traveling too fast or ‘being unable to stop’! As published in the article ‘Staving Off the Coming Global Collapse’, July 24th, 2017 by William Rees: “Humans have a virtually unlimited capacity for self-delusion, even when self-preservation is at stake…”
How do we reduce Overshoot and “buy back years of Harvest”? Required is a Social Change; business and technology solutions are not enough. There needs to be a One Planet approach. You are “a piece of the puzzle” to form a new picture of how humans successfully coexist with the Earth System for centuries to come. IF NOT, We are DONE in 60 YEARS!
A Call to Action: Support the delivery of an integrated solution for development of a green sustainable infrastructure that meets the needs of the present while safeguarding Earth’s Life-Support System, on which the welfare of current and future generations depends! (quoted)
